Bombing of Maiduguri City, Borno State, Nigeria

It was just last December I was in Jos helping to lead a Trauma Healing workshop. As you may know, those of another faith are trying to enforce Sharia law and are attacking churches. The valiant women in this photo are committed to peaceful protest to the government to stop the violence and ensure security for all Nigerian citizens. At risk of life. On Christmas Eve, there was a bomb blast at a church in Jos. Throughout January until now, there have been widespread attacks on Christians in towns and villages throughout the area.
Rev. Augustine was in my small group at the workshop. A very tall, big man. His distress was obvious. He was around 50 and had worked hard to finish his education. He had a house, a church (with building) and was able to provide for the needs of his family. All that was lost in a flash when his town of Maiduguri was attacked.
This past Sunday, an extremist group began new attacks on Maiduguri, bombing churches and the university. Going to church is now a life-threatening proposition. At least 40 people have been killed. People are leaving the city in droves to escape the violence.
Email is still working--here's a message I got back from Augustine this morning.:

Thank you so much. We are very gratefull. Thanks for the mail, we are encouraged to know that you are praying for us. Do continue to pray that the Good Lord will continue to be with us. I remember you always. But the situation here have be so overwhelming. God bless. Greetings from my wife and children. Rev Augustine Aifuo. +2348057160900.
Please pray for our sisters and brothers in Nigeria in this hour of testing, for Augustine, for Stefanos Foundation (click here), for peace on earth.
