World Wide Momentum for Scripture Engagement
Momentum for engaging with Scripture around the world (including our own homes) is mounting. Two big events coming up:- The American Bible Society has invited me to participate in a Great Lakes (of Africa) Impact Summit on May 12th. The purpose of the meeting is to put together a partnership that can effectively respond to the need for Bibles and trauma healing in that part of the world, with special focus on victims of gender violence (rape). As I reflect on all of the people and organizations working in this area, I feel like I'm at the beach watching the water swell. Coordination of all the individual efforts could make a big wave. Please pray for my preps, and for God to work at this Impact Summit to relieve the suffering. To learn more, click here and watch CBS's "60 minutes" program on East Congo: War against Women.
- Evangelicals have had 2 global conferences in the last 30 years named "Lausanne" after the first one took place there. The third is coming up in October in Capetown. Participation at the event is limited with quotas established for each country. (I get to be one of the 400 U.S. delegates!) The whole world is invited to join in the conference--that means you--via the web! 'Global conversations' are underway on-line. I've been asked to write a monthly blog on 'Scripture in Mission.' Click here to check it out. Feel free to join in the conversation too.
